I know, I know; you can’t see your tradelines.  It’s been _______ months and all you have are ______ tradelines showing.  You ordered from ________ companies thinking that you could get a measly 5 to show, but DnB is messing with you.  You’ve called your vendors, and they say that everything is fine, and they’re reporting monthly.  You call DnB and they say that nobody is reporting, but they might be able to find the tradelines for about $500.  I know.  Unfortunately, the real question is:  What are you going to do next?

I don’t know how many of you heard about business credit, or what your goals are, but I feel a sense of frustration among the ranks of the readers, and our clients.  Business credit is not an easy thing to do anymore.  Especially if you don’t have the money to make things happen.  I would recommend that anyone who does not have at least 2K to play with to build their business credit, shouldn’t do it right now.  I am not talking about hiring a business credit comoany for 2K, I mean the cost of actually building the credit.

I’ve refrained from making a judgement about DnB for a long time.  Are they difficult to work with occasionally?  Yes.  Do they lie to clients?  Yes.  Do they make you feel exasperated and frustrated?  Occasioanlly.  Unfortunately, none of those things matter, because they have the leverage.  They own the files, and they are a private company, just lie yours, and they can make the rules.

Should you buy Creditbuilder?  Maybe, if you have the money.  Should you become friends with a DnB rep?  Definitely, I see it as networking.

Overall, the question is, should you be building business credit right now?  The correct answer to that question is always another question.  Do you have the extra capital? Can you wait a year for results?  Is your company new?  Do you actually run a business?

There are a couple of things you can do to make this process easier, and I will post them together next week, but I wanted to let everyone know that we are all experiencing the same difficulties, so be patient.  I know why most of us are frustrated, most of us come from the time where you could get a new car with a 4 month old corp with no PG, and that time was nice; but these are new times.  I would expect building business credit to be a 2-year project if you really want to do it right without help.  With help, I think you can shave a year off of that time, but it will still require patience.

Remember, I appreciate all of you reading my thoughts and tips as often as i can post them, and I appreciate everyone calling me like they do (Some of you guys on the west coast are killing my early evenings though! j/k).  I want everyone to continue on and be successful, and remember; we’re here to help.
